Patong –
An undocumented Laotian migrant thief who broke into houses in Patong stealing cash and a weapon was arrested.
The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that on Sunday afternoon (July 2nd) they arrested a wanted Laotian suspect, 46, (name was not released) in Patong.
Seized from him was a handgun, described as a ‘Colt .38 Super’. He was taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of theft and staying in Thailand without permission. He has admitted to all charges.
The arrest came after the Patong Police received reports that a thief broke into two houses in Patong last month. The thief stole a handgun and a total of 35,500 baht in cash.
This is not the first recent theft in Phuket as just recently in Thalang a thief reportedly stole a million baht from a foreign man.
Earlier this month, a thief originally from Yala was arrested in Phuket for seven counts of theft locally.
In a viral story, a thief attempted to break into a bank and failed, choosing a bakery nearby instead in Phuket Old Town.
In another viral story, an illegal taxi car driver stole a foreigner’s SUV and was arrested.
