UPDATE: Suspect Who Stole Finnish Man’s Car in Phuket is Illegal Taxi Driver

A suspect who was arrested after he stole a car from a Finnish man in Phuket was an illegal taxi driver who had just been released from a prison.

Our previous story:

The arrest came after the suspect allegedly stole an SUV from an unidentified foreigner at a housing estate in Koh Kaew, Mueang Phuket.

Now for the update:

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) released more details on the case this week. The foreign victim was identified as a Finnish national, but requested his name be withheld for his privacy. The suspects name is Mr. Suwit ‘Jack’ Jantaharn, 32, who is facing charges of theft. Officers found that Suwit had just been released from a prison.

Suwit admitted to police that he is now an illegal taxi driver after he was released from prison for theft. He stole the SUV from the foreigner which was parked inside a house.

According to Suwit, he just “Wanted to have the SUV so that he could sell it in Bangkok”.

Suwit remains in custody as of press time.
