Now for the update:

Officials from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the incident by staff at the Marine Rescue Center at Kata Beach, Mueang Phuket district on Wednesday (August 23rd).

The DMCR officials went to the beach to find the weak Olive Ridley sea turtle weighing about 11 kilograms. It was 47.5 centimeters long and 50 centimeters wide. The turtle was dehydrated. Its right front flipper was missing and its shell was infected. Oil was found in its mouth.

The turtle was rescued and the oil was cleaned from it before the turtle was taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Center for further medical treatment.
