UPDATE: Another Two Sea Turtles Found Impacted by Oil in Phuket Sea

Another two sea turtles were found impacted by oil in the sea in Phuket.

Oil stains were found on several beaches in Thalang along with a baby sea turtle that appeared to have been impacted by the oil.

The Phuket Marine Office filed a report for legal action against a boat that released oil into the sea.

A second sea turtle was found impacted by oil in the sea in Phuket. Marine Ecologists said that local marine resources had been majorly impacted.

The Phuket Marine Office has filed more police reports for legal action against a boat that released oil into the sea.

Now for the update:

Officials from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that officials from the Sirinat National Park in Thalang were notified by local residents on Tuesday (August 8th) that a sea turtle had been found covered with oil near Nai Yang Beach. The Green Turtle was 29 centimetres long and 30 centimeters wide.

On the same day, the DMCR were notified by a beach lifeguard at Mai Khao Beach that an Olive Ridley sea turtle had been found covered with oil. The turtle was 15 centimeters wide and 16 centimeters long. Both turtles were rescued and the oil was cleaned from them before being taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Center for further medical treatment.
