UPDATE: Second Sea Turtle Found Impacted by Oil in Phuket Sea

Phuket –

A second sea turtle was found impacted by oil in the sea in Phuket. Marine Ecologists said that local marine resources had been majorly impacted.

Our previous stories:

Oil stains were found on several beaches in Thalang along with a baby sea turtle that appeared to have been impacted by the oil.

The Phuket Marine Office filed a report for legal action against a boat that released oil into the sea.

Now for the update:

Marine life expert Dr. Thon Thamrongnawasawat told The Phuket Express that a second sea turtle was found covered with oil stains at the Racha Yai Island in Mueang Phuket. The turtle was rescued and cleaned before being taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Center for further medical treatment.

Oil stains have now heavily impacted marine lives and coral reefs. This means it has impacted the overall Phuket marine ecological system. This problem is urgent and needs to be quickly solved, said Dr. Thon.
