UPDATE: Huge Sea Turtle Impacted by Oil Found in Phuket

A huge sea turtle impacted by oil was found in the Phuket sea.

Oil stains were found on several beaches in Thalang along with a baby sea turtle that appeared to have been impacted by the oil.

The Phuket Marine Office filed a report for legal action against a boat that released oil into the sea.

A second sea turtle was found impacted by oil in the sea in Phuket. Marine Ecologists said that local marine resources had been majorly impacted.

Now for the update:

Officials from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that they were notified by local fishermen over the past weekend that they had found a huge sea turtle stuck in a fishing net covered with oil stains near the Bon Island in Rawai, Mueang Phuket.

The turtle was rescued and the oil was cleaned from it before the turtle was taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Center for further medical treatment.
