UPDATE: Another Sea Turtle Impacted by Oil Found in Phuket

Another sea turtle impacted by oil was found in Phuket sea.

Oil stains were found on several beaches in Thalang along with a baby sea turtle that appeared to have been impacted by the oil.

The Phuket Marine Office filed a report for legal action against a boat that released oil into the sea.

A second sea turtle was found impacted by oil in the sea in Phuket. Marine Ecologists said that local marine resources had been majorly impacted.

Now for the update:

Officials from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that they were notified by lifeguards on Karon Beach that a sea turtle had been found covered with oil.

They arrived at the beach to find the young Green Turtle which was 12 centimetres wide, 13 centimeters long, and weighed 220 grams. The turtle was weak and dehydrated.

The turtle was rescued and the oil was cleaned from inside and outside of it before being taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Center for further medical treatment.
