The following is our weekly feature in which we highlight the top local stories in our area of Phuket, from the past week. The number of stories differs from week to week.

These are chosen and curated by our editorial team and are designed for our readers to get a quick “catch-up” of important stories they may have missed. We publish many stories daily and it is easy to lose track of important events or changes in our area. We do national recaps in a separate article, this is only the top local stories in the Phuket province.

They are in no particular order of importance but roughly in order of publishing. These are from Monday, August 29th, 2022, to Sunday, September 4th, 2022.

Let’s get started and see what the top local stories were!

1. Heavy rain on September 2^nd in Thalang damaged 40 cars. A condominium near the Phuket International Airport and in front of a golf course near Thep Kasattri Road in Mai Khao were heavily flooded.

General Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered the army to help victims from Phuket flooding.

The Minister of Defense General Prayut Chan-o-cha on September 3^rd has ordered the Royal Thai Army to assist victims in the Mai Khao sub-district in Thalang after flooding.

2. Drivers of two minibus services were summoned to the Phuket Police Station on Sunday, September 4th, following a quarrel over picking up foreign customers near the Rassada Pier in Mueang district on Friday, September 2nd.

The event went viral on social media.

3. More than 100,000 Indian tourists have visited Phuket since the Test and Go program was dropped on May 1st, says Phuket Immigration.

Indians are expected to continue to be the top foreign tourist arrivals to Phuket for the rest of 2022.

4. A man has sustained injuries from a slash wound after a fight with his former friend near Saphan Hin Public Park in Wichit on August 28th.

A suspect who opened fire in an armed fight near Saphan Hin Public Park in Mueang Phuket was arrested in Satun.

The event concerned many local residents.

5. A 120 centimeters long crocodile was found in a pond inside a temple in Phuket.

The crocodile was removed from the pond. The Phuket Fisheries Office said crocodiles are protected animals with permission need for possession.
