Phuket-

A video clip that appears to show a 15-year-old girl who is suffering from polio attacked by a group of male teenagers in Phuket has gone viral on social media and the victim’s mother is calling for justice.

Yesterday, (May 19th) local press was notified from a 37-year-old mother (The Phuket Express is withholding her name), “My 15-year-old daughter who is suffering from polio was attacked last month by a group of male teenagers on Rung Hill in Phuket Town. She came home and told me about the attack.”

“I filed a report to the Phuket City Police on April 22nd. Police identified and called the male teenagers and arranged for me to meet them at the police station. We reconciled before compromising to make an agreement to settle the matter. At that time, I had not seen the video clip about the attack and was not even aware there was a video.”

“I have just seen the video clip on May 17th. This was after someone associated with the assault posted the video across social media. The video appears to show my disabled daughter pulled down from a parked motorbike before being slapped and smacked by a group of male teenagers. She was on a motorbike with her male friend prior to the incident.”

“I was shocked after I knew what had really happened to my daughter. It was much more violent than I thought. As a result, I have filed a report to police to take action against them and dismiss our former compromise and reconciliation, I want maximum charges filed in this case. What sort of man attacks a disabled girl with polio?” The mother concluded.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old girl, whose identity was withheld due to being a minor, told The Phuket Express, “Those male teenagers claimed that I challenged them to a fight which was not true, I did not say anything like that. They asked me to meet them on Rung Hill before attacking me, I never thought a group of healthy young boys would attack a disabled girl. They asked me to kiss their feet and beg them to stop attacking me.”

Phuket police are reportedly reopening the case and investigating the incident, as well as looking into who filmed and released the video.

The Phuket Express notes this is the second recent case in Phuket involving bullying and viral videos amongst teenagers which have driven intense discussion on social media on how to solve the problem. For the prior story, please click right here. The prior story was also resolved HERE.
