Now for the update:
Officers from the Phuket Administrative Office told the Phuket Express that earlier this week they arrested two male Kratom juice vendors at local grocery stores in the Sri Soonthorn sub-district. Seized from them were a total of 42 bottles of Kratom juice and two huge pots of boiling kratom juice.
They were taken to the Thalang Police Station to face charges of selling kratom juice in bottles without legal permission. One of them is facing additional charges of illegally producing Kratom juice for sale. Police did not release the personal details of the suspects.
The Phuket Express noted Kratom Juice is not allowed to be an ingredient or mixed in with other food or juice for sale. So, even pure Kratom Juice in a bottle is not allowed to be sold, especially on public streets. Kratom was decriminalized in 2021 but is not meant to be mixed into narcotic cocktails, only usage of the leaf is technically legal.
Anyone who breaks the law could be imprisoned for a term from six months to two years or fined from 5,000 Baht to 20,000 baht.
