Driver Blames Brake Failure for Patong Hill Accident

Patong –

A driver has escaped injuries after his truck nearby overturned on Patong Hill and he blamed brake failure.

The Patong Police were notified of the accident on Friday (November 3rd) on No. 4029 Road ( Kathu – Patong Road) on Patong Hill. They arrived at the scene to find the truck on a guardrail and was nearly overturned.

The truck driver, Mr. Somjit Tanaart, 59, from Ubon Ratchathani, who was not injured, told The Phuket Express that he was carrying items for hotels. This was his first time driving to Phuket with a GPS navigator. The truck had a brake failure before the truck slid backwards on the hill and got stuck on the guardrail at a curve near the Tiger Shrine.

The truck was later pulled up by a crane truck before being removed from the road. Police are continuing their investigation as government property was damaged.
