Krabi –

A dugong was found dead at a beach on Lanta Island.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that the dead dugong was found by locals on Jao Aoud Beach in the Koh Klang sub-district, Koh Lanta district this week.

It was a young male dugong, 1.53 meters long. The dugong’s body was starting to decompose. No severe wounds were found on its body. An autopsy was conducted at the beach and sea grass was found in its intestines. The cause of death could not be identified.
