Dugong found dead in Krabi

A dugong was found dead in the sea in Krabi.

The dead dugong was found by a local fisherman in the sea in Baan Nai Nang, Khao Kram sub-district, Mueang Krabi. The dugong was pulled up onto the pier yesterday (November 13th).

Mr. Donlor Gamepitak, a consultant of the Krabi Fishermen Association told the Phuket Express that the dugong was a male aged around three-years-old. He weighed 100 kilograms and is 1.50 meters long.

No severe wounds were found. It is believed that the dugong died at least 24 hours before he was found. The area where he was found dead has lots of his primary food, sea grass. An autopsy is being conducted to identify his cause of death.
