Sea Turtle Lays Eggs on Samui Island

Surat Thani-

A sea turtle mother laid eggs at a beach on Samui Island in Surat Thani.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that earlier this week they were notified that a trace of a sea turtle mother was found on the Thong Nhan Beach in the Maret sub-district, Samui district.

They arrived at the beach to find the Hawksbill Sea turtle mother was laying eggs.

The DMCR told the Phuket Express that the turtle has a microchip from the marine department. This mother turtle has laid her fourth nest of eggs since 2012 when she was first microchipped and has been tracked and healthy since then.

Inside the nest were an undisclosed amount of sea turtle eggs. The nest is being protected and monitored until the eggs hatch. Officials stated that the baby sea turtles should hatch in about 60 days.
