American and French Motorbike Rider Arrested for Drunk Driving in Patong

An American and a French motorbike rider were arrested in Patong for drunk driving on Friday (May 3rd).

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that they had set up a police checkpoint at an intersection near a football field on the Taweewong Road in Patong from 1:30 A.M. to 2:30 A.M..

Two suspicious male foreign motorbike riders were stopped at the police checkpoint. Suspects identified only as Mr. Madison, 54, an American rider, and Mr. Belet, 20, a French rider, were both given alcohol breath tests. Their tests showed .85 and .83 milligrams percent of alcohol which were over the legal alcohol limit of .50.

They were taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of drunk driving. They did not immediately release statements to the media.
