New Zealander Arrested for Playing Fireworks on Patong Beach

A New Zealander was arrested after playing fireworks at the Patong Beach after midnight on Thursday (May 2nd).

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that at 0:30 A.M. they arrested a suspect identified only as Mr. Stephen, 39, New Zealand national, on the Patong Beach near Taweewong Road.

Seized from him were two sets of eight fireworks. He was taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of playing fireworks without legal permission which caused noise pollution.

The Phuket Express noted that the punishment for this is imprisonment for up to three years or fines up to 60,000 baht or both.
