Teenager Arrested after Stabbing Incident in Patong

Patong, Phuket-A teenage suspect has been taken into custody following a stabbing incident that left one man injured in Patong this past Friday, April 19th, 2024.

According to the Patong Police, they received a distress call at approximately 1:12 A.M. regarding a male teenager who had suffered stab wounds near a local market situated on the Ratcha Uthit 200 Pi Road. Upon their arrival, the victim had already been transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

The victim, identified only as Mr. Aritat, had sustained a knife-induced abdominal injury. Preliminary investigations suggest that the stabbing was the result of a prior unresolved dispute between the victim and the assailant, an 18-year-old identified solely as Mr. Jim.

Mr. Jim was apprehended and during interrogation, he recounted the events leading up to the altercation. He claimed that on the evening of April 18th, while engaging in the Songkran festival’s water fights with friends near the market, Mr. Aritat initiated a confrontation with him post-midnight. The argument escalated, resulting in Mr. Jim’s acquaintance, 17-year-old Mr. Lek, stabbing Mr. Aritat approximately three times before fleeing the scene.

Law enforcement officials later located and arrested Mr. Lek in Wichit. The Patong Police are actively continuing their investigation and anticipate further legal proceedings.
