Kazakhstani Woman Arrested in Thalang for Allegedly Being an Illegal Taxi Driver

Thalang –

A Kazakhstani woman was arrested in the Mai Khao sub-district after she was found allegedly being an illegal taxi driver.

The Tha Chatchai Police told the Phuket Express that on Wednesday (March 6th) at 6:30 P.M. they and Phuket Immigration Officers arrested a woman identified only as Mrs. YEKATERINA, Kazakhstani national, in front of a condominium in the Mai Khao sub-district.

The case came about because the Tha Chatchai police found a website in the Russian language advertising Phuket tourism with transportation services. Police contacted them for transportation for picking them up at a condominium. The Kazakhstani illegal taxi driver then showed up before the arrested.

She was taken to the Tha Chatchai Police Station to face charges of working without permission (taxi driver). The Phuket Express notes that work permits and visas are unavailable for foreigners acting as taxi drivers.
