UPDATE: Following Viral Video of Foreigner Allegedly Kicking Thai Doctor, Phuket Officials Order Encroaching Beach Stairs Removed

Phuket –

The beach stairs of a villa are being ordered to be demolished after officials found they were indeed encroaching a public beach in Paklok. This follows a viral incident involving a foreigner and a Thai doctor on the stairs.

A video of the incident can be seen here. It contains harsh language that could offend sensitive viewers.

Our previous story:

A doctor was allegedly kicked by a foreign man after she was sitting at night watching the full moon with her friend on the stairs of a villa that is connected to Yamu beach. The Phuket Land Office is also now allegedly inspecting the villa to see if the stairs are encroaching on the public beach as concern was expressed by thousands of users on social media that the beach is public land.

Now for the update:

The Phuket Land Office inspected the stairs of the villa at the Yamu Beach in Paklok, Thalang on Thursday (February 29th). Officials found that the second to the fourth steps of the stairs have encroached onto the public beach.

The Paklok Mayor Mr. Panya Sampaorat has filed a legal report against the villa owner over public encroaching. The second to the fourth steps have been ordered to be demolished within three days.

The leaked video clip Thursday (February 29th) also proves that the female doctor and her female friend did not sit on the first step considered the property of the foreigner, said Panya to the Thai press. Their feet also touched the sand. So it can be said that the doctor and her friend did not invade the foreigners place as the foreign man allegedly accused them of before.

It has been reported that the villa is being rented by the foreign man and his family for about 1,000,000 baht per month, but is not owned by the foreigner.

A Swiss expat and his Thai wife have apologized to a Thai doctor and the Thai people for a viral kicking incident but the Swiss man still insists he slipped and the kick wasn’t on purpose.
