Motorbike Collision Kills Thai Man, Injures Foreign Man in Kathu

A Thai rider died and a foreign rider was injured after a motorbikes collision in Kathu.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident at 8:00 A.M. on Wednesday morning (January 3rd) on the Wichit Songkram Road in Baan San, Kathu. They arrived at the scene to find a damaged motorbike on the road. Another damaged motorbike was found in the opposite lane.

The rider of a bigger motorbike, identified only as Mr. Nirandorn, 43, from Ranong, was pronounced dead in the opposite lane with his motorbike. The foreign rider, whose name was withheld by authorities, had sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Witnesses told rescue workers that the Thai man, Mr. Nirandorn, lost control of his motorbike at a curve. He careened into the opposite lane across the central reservation before colliding with the moving motorbike which was being driven by the foreign rider.

The foreign man remains in a hospital recovering as of press time while the accident is reviewed by relevant law enforcement officials. A video of the accident is below, viewer discretion is advised.
