Phuket Hits First Death in Fifth Day of New Year Seven Days Road Safety Campaign

Phuket has announced the first death with 29 injuries and 29 accidents in five days (December 29th, 2023 – January 2nd, 2024) of the New Year Seven Day Road Safety campaign (December 29th, 2023 to January 4th, 2024).

The Phuket Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Office told the Phuket Express on Wednesday (January 3rd) details on the fifth day of the safety campaign (January 2nd).

There were 3 road accidents with 2 injuries and 1 death on the fifth day (January 2nd). One road accident with one injury was in the Mueang Phuket district. Two road accidents with 1 injury and 1 death was in Thalang. There were no road accidents in the Kathu district.

Two road accidents involved motorcycles and one involved a pickup truck.

Three were speeding related.

All three accidents were on straight roads.

Phuket has now had one fatality in total, on the fifth day of the campaign.

A 33-year-old male driver died after his pickup truck collided with another pickup truck and a sedan in Thalang, the first death reported in Phuket’s New Year’s Seven Day Road Safety Campaign.
