A leatherback sea turtle laid 112 eggs on a beach in the Thai Mueang district.
The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that after midnight (December 27th) a mother leatherback sea turtle laid eggs on a beach in the Khao Lampi-Hat Thai Mueang National Park Area.
The DMCR found the leatherback sea turtle nest with 112 eggs. Of those, 80 were fertile eggs. The eggs were relocated to a safer area on the beach where sea water could not reach the nest. The DMCR officials stated that in about 60 days that baby leatherback sea turtles will hatch.
