Thai Prime Minister to Visit Patong Today to Oversee Tourism Safety Drills

Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will visit Patong today to personally see safety drills performed in advance of the busy high season.

The Patong Municipality has announced that the drill will be held on December 1st, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. onward. The drill is aimed to prepare for the upcoming high season in which there will be a lot more tourists than usual.

The drills will consist of three simulated situations which are tourists ignoring red flags marking no swimming on local beaches, strong wave safety drills, and a crime scenario on Bangla Road. Please be aware of the drills if in these areas after 4:00 P.M. as traffic will also be certainly affected.

The Thailand Public Relations Department has also announced that Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will arrive in Phuket on December 1st, 2023, to see the safety drills in Patong.
