Patong Massage Shop Owner Arrested for Hiring Minor During Night Hours

An owner of a massage shop in Patong was arrested after being found hiring a staff aged under 18-years-old during specific times.

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that on Tuesday night (November 28th) at 10:30 P.M., they arrested the owner of a massage shop in Patong. The owner was taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of allowing employees under 18-years-old to work at the massage shop from 10:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. without permission.

According to the Thailand Department of Labour Protection and Welfare Laws, employers are not allowed to hire employees aged under 18 between 10:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.. Anyone who breaks the laws shall be imprisoned up to six months or fined up to 100,000 baht or both.

The Phuket Express noted that specific details of the shop owner and the name of the massage shop were not released by the Patong Police.
