Ambulance Blocking Motorbike Rider in Patong Gets in Accident, Man Breaks Both Legs

Patong –

A motorbike rider has broken both of his legs after crashing following an incident where he appeared to purposely block an ambulance from reaching a hospital.

Mr. Somphong Panaputae, a Kusoldharm rescue worker, told The Phuket Express “Earlier this week I was driving an ambulance with a patient heading to a hospital. There was a motorbike rider in front of my ambulance slowing our travel. The patient was having a medical emergency and we were in a hurry with all sirens and lights blaring.”

“We announced via the ambulance’s microphone to ask the rider to move away. Instead of moving away, he rode the motorbike in a zig zag way instead, essentially preventing us from getting around him.” Somphong explained.

“However, we finally arrived at the Patong Hospital. On the way back to our base of operations, we were notified of an accident between a car and a motorbike.” Somphong stated.

“When we arrived at the scene, the rider who broke both legs was the same rider who had earlier blocked our ambulance.” Somphong concluded.

The identity of the motorbike rider was not released by relevant Phuket authorities and it was unclear if he would be charged for the earlier incident of blocking the ambulance or if police would decide that perhaps fate or karma had decided to intervene.
