Lots of Dead Shellfish Cause Foul Odor Around Rawai Lake

Phuket –

Officials inspected a lake in Rawai after lots of dead shellfish caused a bad smell to permeate the area.

The Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos told the Phuket Express that on Tuesday (June 14th) they inspected the Naiharn Lake after they were notified by locals that ‘Chicken Spur Shells’ were found deceased, causing a foul smell around the lake. Staff from the Rawai Municipality immediately removed all the dead shellfish from the lake.

The water gate has also been opened to let sea water come into the lake in order to dilute the pollution. The cause of death, according to relevant officials, was water tides. These shellfish were essentially unable to quickly move when it was low tide.
