Army Commander Follows up on Beach Management in Phuket

Phuket –

The Army Region 4 Commander inspected and followed up on beach management in Phuket for the confidence of both tourists and locals.

Yesterday (March 27th) the Army Region 4 commander Lieutenant General Santi Sakuntanak inspected Kata Beach in Karon and Freedom Beach in Patong.

Lieutenant General Santi told the Phuket Express “There are many Thai and foreign tourists visiting beaches in Phuket. Tourist safety is very important and with the cooperation of everyone we can still conserve our beautiful environment and nature by following rules and laws.”

“Freedom Beach has been clearly announced as a nature and environment conservation area. No one is allowed to do anything for personal benefit like set up buildings on the beach. Anyone who breaks the rules will face maximum legal action. It is time to manage our beautiful beaches and nature. If we do not start today, when will we do so? Don’t let the previous beach management become worthless,” Lieutenant General Santi noted.

Some of the actions officials are ensuring are prevented is encroachment on natural resources by local business owners, operation of illegal fishing and business ventures like jet ski operating, and actions that may pollute or harm the environment.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic and lack of tourists and visitors helped heal beaches naturally across Thailand officials have taken their responsibility to protect the environment for the future very seriously since, notes The Phuket Express, as compared to before the pandemic.
