UPDATE: Belgian Who Died in Patong Allegedly Involved in Argument over Tuk Tuk Fee

Patong –

A Belgian man who died after he allegedly slipped and fell in Patong may have been involved in an argument over a Tuk Tuk fare.

Our previous story:

A Belgian man has died after he allegedly slipped and fell with his head making contact to the ground while he was trying to stop his friend who was arguing with a Thai man in Patong.

Now for the update:

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that there are two possible causes of the incident.

The Belgian man’s friend said that they got on a Tuk Tuk taxi from Bangla Road to an apartment in Soi Na Nai in the early morning.

The Tuk Tuk taxi driver wanted 300 baht for the journey but his friend thought that it was too expensive and they started to argue.

The other cause might be that residents who lived at the apartment block were annoyed by their argument before they became involved in the fight.

Patong Police are still reviewing the incident to determine if the Belgian did indeed slip and fall or if it was caused by a physical confrontation.
