108 leatherback sea turtle eggs found on Phuket Beach

108 leatherback sea turtle found on Mai Khao Beach in Thalang.

Mr. Sorasak Rananan, the head of the Sirinat National Park, told the Phuket Express that they were notified from a local today (December 11th) about the eggs and said he saw traces of a large sea turtle on Mai Khao Beach near a hotel.

The national park officials went to the Mai Khao Beach to find the traces of a large leatherback sea turtle which was about 180 centimeters wide. In total, 108 eggs were found in the nest and 79 are fertile eggs. The eggs were relocated to a safe area at Nai Yang Beach nearby.

Meanwhile a third leatherback sea turtle nest with eggs were found on a beach in Phang Nga, north of Phuket.
