Third leatherback sea turtle nest found on beach in Phang Nga

Phang Nga –

A third leatherback sea turtle nest with eggs were found on a beach in Phang Nga.

Our previous story:

In total, 118 leatherback sea turtle eggs were found on a beach in Phang Nga, north of Phuket.

More leatherback turtle eggs were found on the same beach as a previous recent find in Takua Thung this month.

Now for the update:

Officials from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources Division 6 (DMCR 6) told the Phuket Express today (December 7th) early this morning that they were notified from a local resident that a leather sea turtle mother was laying eggs on the Na Klua Beach in the Kok Kloi sub-district, Takua Thong district.

DMCR officials went to the beach which is about 900 meters from two previous sea turtle nests found. This third nest had 139 eggs in which 119 were fertile eggs. The eggs were relocated to a safe area near the previous two nests.
