Two entertainment venue staffers from more than a hundred in Patong tests positive in drug crackdown

Patong –

Only two staffers from more than a hundred at entertainment venues on Bangla Road in Patong tested positive for drugs in a crackdown.

A team of officials from the Kathu District Chief last night (November 15th) conducted a urine drug test in entertainment venues on staffers working in Patong with no notification in advance.

Mr. Pipop Sudkhao, the Kathu Administrative Chief Officer, told the Phuket Express, “This is part of an entertainment venue campaign we are calling “X-Ray” to suppress illegal drug usage and sales.”

“Staffers from entertainment venues on Bangla Road were given drug urine tests, in total 117 staffers (62 men and 55 women). Only two men tested positive for drugs.” Mr. Pipop stated.

Mr. Pipop added that those two staffers have agreed to receive drug treatment and rehab. Meanwhile, the crackdown has continued.

The exact drugs tested for and what was positive were not revealed to The Phuket Express.
