Patong –

The soil testing results on the Patong Hill shows that the road is not ready to be used for road users, even pedestrians.

Our previous stories:

The Patong road will be ready to use after temporary repair work which will take seven days and work will be started after the current rain stops.

Landslide experts from the Highway Department are testing how strong the soil is on Patong Hill before considering to allow pedestrians to walk across it.

Now the update:

The Patong Police reported this afternoon (October 22nd), “The analysis results from the soil shows the area is consisted of ‘Loose Sand’ between hills. Water levels underneath the soil is high which is at risk for the road to further collapse.”

“Relevant authorities have decided to to continue the closure of the collapsed area on the hill. The road is not ready for road users or pedestrians yet.” Patong Police concluded.
