Fire destroys Indian restaurant in Patong overnight, waking up and scaring nearby residents

Patong –

A fire damaged an Indian restaurant in Patong early this morning (September 8th) which woke up and scared nearby residents.

Firefighters were notified of the fire at 1:40 A.M. at an Indian restaurant on Taweewong Road next to a convenience store.

They arrived at the scene with three fire engines to find the fire was heavily ablaze at a converted townhouse. It took 40 minutes to control the fire. The restaurant was damaged but thankfully no injuries were reported.

The restaurant owner said there was no one inside because the restaurant was closed and staff did not live on the premises.

It is believed that the fire started from an electric short circuit. However, the Phuket Forensic Police is investigating to find the exact cause of the fire.
