Karon to hold tsunami evacuation drill later this week

The Karon Municipality is inviting people to join in a tsunami evacuation drill on Wednesday, July 20th.

The drill came after the Phuket Governor has ordered relevant officials to stay updated and keep a close eye on oceanic earthquake situations.

The Karon Municipality says the evacuation drill is aimed to prepare for any disaster to prevent loss of life and damages as well as to ensure safety for residents and tourists in high-risk areas.

The drill will be on July 20th, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. onward and start at Karon Circle to the shelter at Karon Temple (Suwan Kiri Khet Temple) in the Karon sub-district, Mueang Phuket district.

The drill will include warning practices, evacuation drills, and shelter management.

Meanwhile the Phuket City Municipality is inviting people to join in a tsunami evacuation drill on Wednesday, July 20th too.
