Two large saltwater crocodiles in Surat Thani caught by local villagers

Surat Thani –

Two large saltwater crocodiles were caught by local villagers in the Tha Chana district.

The Tha Chana District Chief told the Phuket Express that he was notified by local villagers that they saw a massive crocodile last night (December 8th) on the roadside near a canal in the Kantulee sub-district which was about 100 meters from local houses. Locals who are self-proclaimed experts in crocodile catching later caught not just one croc, but two of them.

The Tha Chana Fisheries Chief, Mrs. Pilaiphon Thongmak, told the Phuket Express that they are female saltwater crocodiles. One of them is four meters long and weighs 400 kilograms. The other one is 2.1 meters long and weighs about 70 kilograms. The crocodiles are now safe at the fisheries center.

Saltwater crocodiles are more furious than freshwater crocodiles, Pilaiphon stated. She added that the Tha Chana Fisheries have not seen them for many years. If anyone saw crocodiles around residential areas, Pilaiphon urged the public to please call experts to catch them.
