Chalong –
A food delivery rider who targeted two unoccupied foreign-owned houses in Phuket has been arrested while trying to re-enter the island, with police seizing cash, gold jewellery and other items valued at more than 3.69 million baht.

The victims, both foreign nationals, reported the thefts to Chalong Police Station in late September. They said unknown thieves had entered two houses in the Chalong subdistrict, Mueang Phuket district, and taken various foreign and Thai banknotes along with gold jewellery. The total value of the missing property exceeded one million baht.

Investigators quickly linked the crimes to a food delivery rider named Thana. He had previously delivered meals to the properties on multiple occasions and noticed that the first house was often empty and left unlocked. At the second house, the outer gate was not locked and the wooden door was weak. Using this knowledge, he entered both homes, stole the cash and valuables, and fled to his hometown.

Police later learned that Thana was driving back to Phuket in a black MG sedan. On the 2nd of October 2026, police arrested him at the inbound Phuket checkpoint on Thepkrasattri Road in Mai Khao, Thalang.

Officers recovered a large quantity of US dollars and Thai banknotes, several gold necklaces, bracelets and rings, an iPhone 17 Pro, a Samsung mobile phone, a smartwatch and the black MG car. The seized items were valued at more than 3.69 million baht in total.

Thana has been handed over to investigators at Chalong Police Station for further legal proceedings.
