Thalang –

Authorities in Phuket have taken swift action against a foreign national after a video circulated on social media showing him lighting a fire in the middle of a residential street. The incident, which occurred outside a local guesthouse, sparked alarm among residents and was widely criticized online for being reckless and disruptive.

According to police reports, investigators from Cherng Talay Police Station traced the location of the incident to a nearby rental property. Although the suspect was not immediately found at the scene, officers coordinated with Immigration Police to conduct a follow-up inspection.

The man has now been formally charged with “causing public nuisance”, a violation under Thai law that carries fines and potential further penalties depending on the severity of the disturbance.

Local residents expressed relief that authorities responded quickly, noting that such behavior not only endangered public safety but also undermined community peace. Police explained that foreigners living or visiting Thailand are expected to respect local laws and customs, and that disruptive acts will be met with legal consequences.
