Foreign Tourist Arrested for Visa Overstay After Hotel Disturbance in Phuket

Cherng Talay –

Police arrested a male foreign tourist for overstaying his visa following a disturbance at a local hotel.

Authorities received a report that a group of tourists were playing loud music in the hotel’s common area, disturbing other guests. Officers arrived at the scene and requested to see the individuals’ passports. The tourists were unable to present original documents, showing only digital images instead.

Police then checked the passport numbers against immigration records and discovered that one of the tourists had overstayed his permitted stay in Thailand.

The individual was charged with “being a foreign national residing in the Kingdom after permission had expired (Overstay)” and taken into custody. He was transferred to investigators for legal proceedings in accordance with Thai law.

The Phuket Express noted that police did not reveal his nationallity and age.
