Governor Chotnarin Kedsom has directed relevant agencies to urgently verify the facts and ensure fairness to all parties. On September 10th, 2026, Phuket’s Land Transport Office, together with Patong Police, summoned the driver identified in the reports for questioning and inspection of his vehicle and license.

According to officials, the driver denied allegations of harassment, stating the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding. He explained that the passenger attempted to move from the back seat to the front, prompting him to block her for safety reasons. The passenger later requested to end the ride near Malin Market, paid the fare, and left without filing a formal complaint.

Initial findings show no police report or credible evidence to substantiate the claims circulating online. Authorities confirmed they are continuing to monitor the situation and will act within their legal powers if new information emerges.
Phuket officials stressed that they are not ignoring the matter, showing proactive coordination between transport inspectors and police to safeguard tourists. The province urged the public to rely on official sources and avoid sharing unverified personal information that could harm individuals involved or damage Phuket’s tourism image.
