Phuket –
Phuket Mayor Supachok La-ongpetch recently inspected progress at the provincial solid waste management center, where construction of the island’s second waste incinerator is underway. The project, managed by EA Waste Management Phuket Co., Ltd., has now surpassed the halfway mark, with overall progress estimated at more than 50 percent.

Joining the mayor on site were Anan Nopkao, Director of the Division of Public Health and Environment, along with officials from the municipal waste and sanitation unit.
Originally scheduled for completion in mid-2026, the project faced delays due to disruptions in international shipping caused by the Middle East conflict, which slowed the delivery of machinery and construction materials. As a result, the company has extended the timeline, with completion now expected in June 2027.

EA Waste Management Phuket plans to begin introducing waste into the bunker system three months ahead of completion, between April and June 2027, to prepare for full operations. The facility will feature a closed incineration system designed to minimize environmental impacts, particularly odor emissions, and reduce disturbances to nearby communities.
Once operational, the new incinerator will have the capacity to process approximately 500 tons of waste per day, significantly strengthening Phuket’s waste management infrastructure and addressing growing environmental challenges in the province.
