Phuket-
Immigration police in Phuket have arrested a 48‑year‑old American fugitive wanted in Texas, after U.S. authorities alerted Thai officials to his presence in the country.
The suspect, identified only as Brad, was apprehended outside his residence in Talad Nuea, Phuket, by a special operations team led by Acting Police Major Adisorn Boonchum of Phuket Immigration. His visa had already been revoked under Thailand’s Immigration Act following a formal request from the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok.
Brad, who held a U.S. passport that has since been canceled by American authorities, is wanted in Texas on charges of assaulting a family member by strangulation. The arrest warrant was issued by a Texas court on May 26, 2022.
Immigration investigators confirmed his identity when he attempted to present only a photocopy of his passport. Officers informed him that his permission to remain in Thailand had been withdrawn and escorted him to Phuket Immigration headquarters, where he was advised of his legal rights.
He is currently being held pending further legal proceedings and coordination with U.S. authorities for extradition.
