Phuket –
Phuket provincial officials have issued a firm statement refuting claims circulating on social media that residents are preparing to oust the current governor. The province stressed that such reports are false and urged the public not to believe or share unverified information.
According to the clarification, messages and posts alleging that “Phuket residents are rising up to expel the governor” and linking the matter to political issues are entirely unfounded. Authorities confirmed that no such incidents have occurred and that the governor continues to carry out administrative duties and implement policies to support both residents and tourists in line with official regulations.
Officials stated that misleading or false information can cause public misunderstanding, damage confidence, and negatively affect Phuket’s image and tourism atmosphere. They called on citizens and social media users to verify facts before sharing content, and to rely on official communication channels such as the Phuket Provincial Office and the Provincial Public Relations Office for accurate updates.
The province reiterated that the rumors are baseless and appealed for cooperation from all sectors to safeguard the integrity of public information, maintain trust, and protect Phuket’s reputation as a leading tourism destination.
