Now for the update:
Led by group head Saichon Nuchet, members gathered at the Phuket Provincial Hall to deliver their concerns directly to the governor. The petition was received on behalf of Governor Chotnirin Kerdsom by Siwatch Rawangkul, District Chief of Mueang Phuket, who is currently acting as provincial secretary.

The group expressed unease over the event’s promotion, which invites Jewish communities from multiple countries to celebrate in Phuket. They urged officials to carefully review safety measures, legal compliance, and potential impacts on local residents.
“We are worried about public safety, community stability, and the possibility of outside actors exploiting the event to cause disturbances,” Saichon stated.
The petition calls for:
- Verification of event details including organizers, venues, and participants.
- Enhanced security protocols to safeguard both residents and tourists.
- Assessment of community impact, particularly in areas near Chabad centers and hotels hosting the festival.

While the group voiced opposition to the festival itself, provincial authorities confirmed they will evaluate the concerns within the framework of law and public order. Officials said that maintaining Phuket’s reputation as a safe and welcoming tourist destination remains a priority.

The provincial administration will now coordinate with relevant agencies to investigate the matter and determine appropriate measures to balance community security with the island’s tourism atmosphere.
