Wichit –
Phuket police are investigating a violent altercation that left one man dead following a dispute between friends in a rented room in Wichit.
The Wichit Police told the Phuket Express that on Monday (September 7th) they responded to reports of a stabbing at an apartment in Soi Charoen Sap. Upon arrival, investigators found 34‑year‑old Chatchai, from Sisaket, inside the room with bloodstains on his body. A knife believed to have been used in the attack was seized as evidence.
The victim, identified as Polchet, 33, from Chainat, was rushed to Dibuk Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. Police coordinated with medical staff to conduct a post‑mortem examination in accordance with legal procedures.
Authorities charged Chatchai with two serious offenses: causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death, and illegal use of a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine).
During questioning, he admitted to the crime, claiming the attack stemmed from anger after being insulted and demeaned by the victim.
Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and legal proceedings are being carried out. The case shows the deadly consequences of personal disputes escalating into violence, compounded by substance abuse.
