Immigration police in Phuket have arrested a 24‑year‑old Vietnamese national wanted on an Interpol Red Notice for alleged fraud and embezzlement involving millions of baht.
The suspect, identified only as Mr. Nguyen, had been hiding and working in Patong, Phuket, after Vietnamese authorities issued an international warrant for his arrest. Acting on intelligence, a special operations team led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Adisorn Boonchum of Phuket Immigration conducted surveillance and located Nguyen outside a shop on Rat‑Uthit 200 Year Road in Patong.
Officers confirmed his identity and informed him of the cancellation of his temporary stay in Thailand under the Immigration Act of 1979. Nguyen, who reportedly understands Thai well, acknowledged the legal proceedings before being taken into custody.
The arrest followed a formal request from Vietnam’s Interpol office, which sought cooperation in locating Nguyen, accused of large‑scale property fraud and embezzlement. Immigration Division 6 subsequently revoked his right to remain in the Kingdom.
Nguyen is currently being held at Phuket Immigration for further legal processing and coordination with Vietnamese authorities regarding extradition.
