Phuket’s historic old town has been transformed into a dazzling canvas of light, sound, and culture with the launch of “Feel All the Feelings @ Phuket: Illuminating Peranakan – Where Heritage Comes Alive in Light.” The event, inaugurated on August 23rd, 2026, by Phuket Governor Chotnarin Kedsom, runs until August 29th at the iconic Chartered Bank intersection, offering visitors a unique blend of tradition and technology.
Organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket Office, the festival highlights the island’s rich Baba–Peranakan heritage through cutting-edge projection mapping on historic architecture. The initiative is part of Thailand’s “Soft Power” strategy, designed to elevate Phuket as a hub for creative and cultural tourism while boosting local businesses and communities.
Governor Chotnarin stated that Phuket’s charm extends beyond its beaches, pointing to the enduring legacy of the Baba–Peranakan community. This heritage is reflected in the island’s Sino-Portuguese architecture, cuisine, attire, and customs, particularly the Por Tor festival, which embodies local beliefs and gratitude.
The event’s concept, “Where Heritage Comes Alive in Light,” transforms the Chartered Bank building into a digital tapestry, narrating Phuket’s cultural story through immersive visuals. Visitors can explore four themed experiences:
- Feel the Culture – celebrating Peranakan identity
- Feel the Art – showcasing creative technology and artistry
- Feel the Story – sharing tales of the old town and Por Tor traditions
- Feel the Moment – inviting audiences to create lasting memories through performances and cultural activities
The nightly shows, free of charge, run from 7:00 PM to 10:05 PM with ten rounds each evening. TAT Phuket encourages both locals and tourists to discover this enchanting side of Phuket after dark, where heritage meets innovation in a spectacle of light.
