Patong police have confirmed an incident involving four foreign tourists who allegedly refused to pay an 8,000‑baht restaurant bill before attempting to leave the premises.
The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that he incident, which gained attention on social media on August 19th, 2026, occurred at a local restaurant in Patong. According to police, the complainant, a Thai woman working at the establishment, reported that a group consisting of one male tourist from Saudi Arabia and three female tourists from Morocco ordered food and drinks but refused to settle the bill when presented with the charges.
Officers from Patong Police Station responded to the scene and located the complainant. The tourists reportedly walked away from the restaurant without paying, prompting staff to seek assistance. Police intervened and attempted to mediate between the parties, but negotiations failed to reach a resolution. It was unclear what the dispute was over.
As a result, both sides were escorted to the investigating officer for formal proceedings under Thai law. Authorities stated that the matter will be handled according to legal protocols to ensure fairness for all parties involved.
