Four cannabis shops in Phuket will lose their licenses as officials discover violations ranging from on‑site smoking to false documentation and illicit product distribution.
Phuket officials carried out inspections of cannabis shops following public complaints of illegal practices. The operation was led by Pol. Lt. Col. Khetarat Chansilp, Deputy Governor of Phuket, who joined provincial health officers in checking six establishments across the province.
The investigation revealed multiple breaches of cannabis business regulations. As a result, the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office ordered the revocation of licenses for four shops. Violations included allowing cannabis smoking on the premises and submitting falsified reports, both of which contravene licensing requirements.
Authorities also discovered additional illicit substances. At one venue, officers seized hallucinogenic mushrooms and hashish, a cannabis derivative with high THC content, which were handed over to police for further legal action. Another shop, previously prosecuted for selling cannabis without a license, was found to be illegally selling contraband cigarettes and e‑cigarettes. The district administration in Kathu detained the foreign vendor along with the seized goods for prosecution.
