Police intensify a nominee crackdown as they uncovered 61 suspect companies linked to nominee structures, controlling 42 land plots and properties with an estimated value of 1.5 billion baht on Koh Samui. Police have pursued 60 cases involving 88 suspects, 26 Thai nationals and 62 foreigners who have had warrants issued for their arrest.
The operation on Friday (August 14th), led by Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Samran Nualma, unfolded on Koh Samui and resulted in the arrest of 27 suspects and the seizure of extensive business records. Authorities revealed that investigations uncovered 61 suspect companies linked to nominee structures, controlling 42 land plots and properties spanning over 33 rai, with an estimated value of 1.5 billion baht.
The crackdown is to dismantle networks that allow foreign investors to circumvent Thai laws by using local proxies to hold assets and operate businesses.
So far, police have pursued 60 cases involving 88 suspects, 26 Thai nationals and 62 foreigners. The courts issued 37 search warrants and 62 arrest warrants for foreign suspects. Today’s operation secured nearly half of those arrests, while officers confiscated documents, computers, mobile phones, and electronic data to trace financial flows and expand the investigation both domestically and internationally.
