Immigration Police in Phuket have arrested a 26‑year‑old Ukrainian man wanted under an Interpol Red Notice for his alleged role in an international cryptocurrency fraud scheme.
Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express that the suspect, identified only as Yeken (alias), was apprehended on Tuesday (August 11th). Investigators found that the suspect and associates had created fake Telegram accounts and developed a counterfeit trading platform mimicking the popular crypto exchange Bybit. Victims were tricked into transferring funds into digital wallets controlled by the group.
One victim reported losses of USD 1,981 (approx. THB 65,000) in September 2025, with authorities now working to identify additional victims.
Following the arrest, the Immigration Bureau revoked the suspect’s permission to remain in Thailand under the Immigration Act, citing his status as a prohibited person. He has been detained at Phuket Immigration pending deportation to face prosecution abroad.
